YVONNE LYONS LOW SOUTH GATE, CALIF. - Yvonne Lyons Low, 74, passed away Oct. 21, 2003, in South Gate, Calif. She was born May 5, 1929, in Burley, to Ivan E. and Ruth Smith Lyons. She attended school in Burley, graduating from high school in 1947. She met Richard C. Low while attending Brigham Young University. They were married Oct. 11, 1952, in the St. George L.D.S. Temple. When Richard had completed his education they moved to South Gate where they have since resided. After her children were older Yvonne returned to school and obtained her degree in education and her teaching certificate from Dominguez Hill College. She was teaching when she suffered a stroke in 1990 and was unable to return to the classroom. Yvonne was very active in the affairs of the school system in South Gate. She always gave her concern and support to better education. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many different positions and was an active genealogist as long as she was able. She is survived by her husband Richard Low of South Gate, Calif.; seven sons, Andrew of South Gate, Calif., Nathan (Cynthia) Low of San Diego, Calif., John (Debi) Low of Morena, Calif., Matthew, Crestline, Calif., Thomas (Joanie) Low of Heber City, Utah, Brian (Shalane) Low of Chicago, Ill., Jared Low of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Janet (James) Low of Provo, Utah, Martha (Alfred) Kendall of South Gate, Calif.; three brothers, Kent Lyons of Burley, Barton Lyons and Lamont Lyons of Boise; two sisters, Annette Wilson of Mesa, Ariz., Julina Curtis of Driggs; 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother K Lyons and a grandson Steven Low. Funeral services were held in South Gate, Calif., Oct. 28, 2003.
