So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

The following is a letter to Darcy Kennedy July 7, 2005 from Gracia Normandeau Jones. "Darcy, as I look at the family of Don Alvin, son of Alexander, do you see Marion Don? That name ought to be Don Marion Max was only a year old when his father died. As I recall, Grandmother Elizabeth Agnes Kendall helped take care of this family. My mother had a letter from Don Alvin's wife, about the time that my sister Jeannette was born. In the old fashioned writing, she thought her name was Jeannette, so she named my sister after her.

Genie Graham can probably tell us for sure on the name Don Marion, but I am sure it was a mistake on Audentia's part putting it in the book as Marion Don. Don Alvin died in 1901, when his little children were so young. Their mother worked in the book bindery for the herald in Lamoni and Grandma Lizzie watched the children. Lizzie died in 1918. She also had care of Arthur Marion's first family after his first wife died in child birth in 1816, Lizzie also took on that family. I think she wore out because she died in 1819 poor thing. Lizzie was already caring for Eva Grace's son, after Eva died in child birth... that is Judi Madison's line.

BIOGRAPHY: Patriarchal Blessing of Don Alvin Smith, Given at Lamoni, Iowa, Feb. 7, 1904, By Alexander H. Smith Presiding Patriarch, Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. #1732 Don, it is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that I lay my hands upon thy head granting thy request; that thou mayest receive thy blessing, known in the Church as the patriarchal blessing, that its influence may be with thee while thou shalt remain, and by reason of then thou shall receive comfort and peace of mind. And that thou mayest thus be blessed I bear thee in prayer and supplication to the throne of God, as in the duties that have been imposed upon me I am made to stand between the covenant children of God and the throne of God in order to bless those who make covenant with God to keep His commandments.

And in thus bearing thee before my Heavenly Father I plead for thee, asking, O our Heavenly Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus wilt thou let the influences of thy Holy Spirit come to bless this thy child who is so stricken and suffering, and if it can be within the jurisdiction of thy divine will and decree grant that he may receive such strength of body as shall enable him to bear patiently the pains that may be necessary for him to pass through, if it be, and can be thy divine will, place thy hand as it were beneath him and sustain and maintain him while he shall yet remain in this life, and if it can be that he should be spared to us, may the influences of thy Spirit be with him to make him well and strong, and to enable him yet to be useful to his day and generation, to those among whom he may move, that he may have an influence for good upon them; that by the influences of thy Holy Spirit he may be drawn nearer and nearer to thee, that the experiences of life may be of such a nature as shall win him, in thy favor, a place that he may stand with the noble ones that have borne testimony of the Lord Jesus in the past, and have gone beyond the veil.

I realize, dear Father, that the condition is such that it is pleading with thee with the evidence against him, and yet I plead that he may be blessed of thee, that thy Holy Spirit may come to him and bring him comfort of heart and strength of mind. Keep him as it were in the hollow of thy hand.

Remember the holy promises which thou has made to his progenitors, and as his recognition is of the house of Israel and of the seed of Ephraim, remember him that he may receive from thee his inheritance when Israel shall be summoned to received, when the Lord Jesus shall gather together those that are His and dwell with them upon this earth in its renewed and cleansed condition, when He shall come to establish Himself as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, when He shall gather around Him Israel to allot to them their inheritance agreeably to the promise thou has made to Israel, thy chosen.

Oh grant that this thy servant, thy child, may find his lot and inheritance and stand in it as a representative of those that may follow him as his descendants. Father I pray that thou wilt be with this thy child, if it be that he is called to pass down through the dark valley of the shadow of death, to be with him and lead him as by the right hand. May he at times feel as it were the pressure of thy hand leading him. May he realize that whatever the result may be to him in this life, in the life to come, which is promised through Christ Jesus, he shall find rest to his weary body, and shall find that joy and that peace which is promised of thee to those that enter into the paradise of God.

Righteous Father, I plead with thee that thou wilt bless him as I bless him, and grant that he may feel the influences of thy Holy Spirit thrilling him and giving him joy and satisfaction yet in the thought that he is accepted of thee as thy child. As I bless him now for this present life, as I pray thee to bless him, Father for the life which is to come, that should he be called upon to pass the portal of death and enter into the rest found in the paradise of God that he there may find those associates that shall enable him to stand near thee and thy Son in the great day of the gathering, when there shall come with the Lord those who have made themselves heirs of glory by reason of being obedient to His commandments.

It is written that thy children must needs pass through suffering and trial to make them perfect., Father I plead with thee that thou wilt remember, as thou hast promised to give aid to thy children when they suffer, remember this thy child and bless him, and lead him, lead him, if it be the short time that may be allotted him, in thought, that his mind even may be so influenced that it may go out and see across the border land the beauties that are represented in the life which is to come, and the home of the ransomed and the redeemed. And in viewing these things he may be carried beyond the pains of the present body and life, under the influences of the Spirit, freed form the pains that rack and torment him now. To the end, Father, that his name may be found written in the Lord's book of life, I bless him as a father, asking thee to bless him and to be with him to sustain him. And grant, that though this decaying body of his may sleep and rest till the morn of the resurrection, when the trump of God shall sound the coming of the Lord Jesus that he may come forth and join the mighty host that shall meet the Lord at His coming; that he may be recognized as thy child worthy to gather and assemble with the redeemed and ransomed that shall meet the Lord at His coming.

To this end, Righteous Father, I pray thee to be with him and seal upon him the promise of eternal life, that promise that has been given through Christ Jesus, that he may look upon this life simply as the means to attain that which is promised of thee shall be given in the life to come. Now, Father, I bless him to this end, that his name may be found in letters of light, written among those who have confessed the Lord Jesus and made their calling and election sure, by being obedient to His commandments. I seal upon thee, dear brother, these blessings, asking god that He will remember the promises which He has made and bless thee as I have blessed thee, in Jesus' name. Amen.
