So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

  • Notes
    • ROGER PRICHARD was born about 1600 in England or Wales. The name is of Welch origin, but the exact place is unknown. He was married to Frances Woodall. They had three children when they arrived in Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636 and must have almost immediately moved west as he is listed among the early settlers arriving in Springfield in that year.
When Sir. Henry Smith was appointed Governor of the new jurisdiction of Connecticut in 1640 Roger Prichard went with him to Wethersfield, Connecticut. He witnessed the 15 November 1640 will of Joyce Ward there and signed his name "Roger Prichat".
However, he returned to Springfield, Massachusetts, by 1642 as he was listed as a Collector Officer in 1642 and was allotted five acres of land along the Agawam River, 23 Feb. 1643, and another six acres, 6 Apr. 1643. He was given an extra allotment in Large Meadow (now Longmeadow) on 7 May 1645. In 1646 he was listed with 28 acres and assessed 7 shillings on it. He was at about this time on a list of 18 men to raise 55 pounds for the minister's maintenance. On 13 April 1648 Roger Pritchard was made a Freeman of Massachusetts Bay Colony.
His first wife, Frances, died in Springfield, 9 Mar. 1650/1651. He married, 18 Dec. 1653, Elizabeth Purdden, widow of William Slough. William and Elizabeth were married in 1644. (William Slough was excommunicated from the church for "horrid offense" and executed at New Haven, CT in 1653 for "horrible depravity"). Elizabeth was the daughter of James Purdden.
Roger and Elizabeth made their home in Milford, New Haven, Connecticut and had two children, Joseph and Benjamin. Roger Pritchard joined the Milford, Connecticut church on 28 May 1654. Elizabeth Prudden Slough had joined the Milford, Connecticut church on 8 September 1644. They had 3 children born at Milford, Connecticut.
Roger Prichard died in New Haven, Connecticut, in 26 Jan. 1670/1671, leaving minor aged sons Joseph Pritchard (age 17) and Benjamin Pritchard (age 15). It is possible that he had gone there to live with his daughter, Alice Bradley. Apparently his wife Elizabeth had died by 1671
Tradition suggests that the boys were perhaps then with their Uncle William Pritchard (brother to Roger Pritchard?) who died in the Indian massacre (King Philips War) at Brookfield, Massachusetts along with his son Samuel Pritchard and others, 2 August 1675. The nephews being there for this cannot be verified. It is accepted that Joseph Pritchard (1654-1675/6) died during King Philips War. Samuel and Ann (Prudden, sister of Elizabeth Prudden Pritchard) Colby were appointed to administer the estate of Joseph Pritchard and to act as guardians of Benjamin Pritchard (born 1656)

Roger Prichard was born about 1600. He was the son of Benjamin Prichard and Rebecca Jones.

He married about 1623 in England. His wife's name was Francis. They had at least four children; Alice 1624, Joanna 1626, Nathaniel 1629, and Hannah.

Roger, Frances and three of their children arrived in Boston harbor in 1636. In 1642, he owned land in the Great Meadow in Wethersfield, Connecticut. In 1643 the Wethersfield records say that Roger moved to Springfield, Massachusetts. Roger was made a Freeman in Springfield in 1648. Later he moved to Milford, Connecticut and also owned land and perhaps lived in New Haven.

Roger became a widower in April 1651 when Frances died in Springfield. She was 49. Two years later, Roger moved to Milford Connecticut. That same year in December, he married Elizabeth. She was the widow of William Slough and the daughter of James Prudden. Some sources say their had two sons.

Roger died in Milford, Connecticut in 1671.
