So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

Joseph Loomis from Braintree, Essex county, England, sailed with his wife, five sons and three daughters 11 Apr 1638, in the ship Susan and Ellen. They arrived at Boston 17 Jul 1638. They then removed to Windsor, CT in 1639. His wife died 23 Aug 1652, and he died 25 Nov 1658.

Their children were Joseph Jr who married first Sarah Hill, and second Mary Chauncey; a daughter who married Capt. Nicholas Olmsted; Elizabeth who married Josiah Hull; John who married Elizabeth, the daughter of Thomas Scott; Thomas who married first Hannah Fox, and second Mary, the daughter of Thomas Judd; Nathaniel who married Elizabeth, the daughter of John Moore; Mary who married first John Skinner, and second Owen Tudor; and Samuel who married Elizabeth, the daughter of Thomas Judd.

Mary White was born in August 1590 in Messing, Essex, England. She was a middle child of Robert White and Bridget Allgar. She had three brothers and four sisters. Very little is kinown of her family, but she was mentioned in her Father's will in 1617 when he left her one pewter platter.

Mary married Joseph Loomis in June 1614 in Shalford, Essex, England. They were both in their early 20's. They had eight children; Joseph 1615, Sarah 1617, Elizabeth 1619, Mary 1620, John 1622, Thomas 1624, Nathaniel 1626, and Samuel 1628. All their children were born in England.

Mary and Joseph probably came to America in 1638 in the "Susan & Ellen" with Captain Edward Payne. There is record that the "Susan & Ellen" carried "divers goods and chattells, victualls, and commodities of Joseph Loomis late of Brayntree in the County of Essex, Woolen-draper, wch were put up in 3 butts, 2 hogsheads, one halfe hogshead, one barrell, one Tubb and 3 ferkins, transported from Malden in the County of Essex to London in an Ipswch Hye".

After coming to America, Mary and Joseph stayed in Dorchester, Massachusetts for about a year. They probably moved to Windsor, Connecticut in the summer of 1639.

Mary died in August 1652 in Windsor, Connecticut and was buried there. Joseph was left a widower and died six years later.
