Andreas and his brother, Johannes emigrated to America, from Palatinate Germany in the early 1700's before 1718. On September 12,1718, James Steele and his wife, Martha, conveyed to John Lederach fifty acres of land adjoining his other lands
and that of his brother, Andrew Lederach, Dielman Kolb and others, all of which was part of the 5 thousand acres William Penn, Proprieter of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, conveyed to William Bacon.
Andrew was a shoemaker by trade, but having acquired a large tract of land, became a farmer. The Lederaches, Kolb, Zieglers and Clemens were all neigbbours, owning adjoining farms. Deed for Andrews farm was conveyed in Sept. 2 1718 and was
secured by patent 23 July 1735.
A tax list for 1734, for Philadelphia County has Andrew L. rated for 150 acres. In a re-survey in 1776 this amount was shown to be actually 132 acres as shown by the patent of 1735.
Both brothers were naturalized 12 - 13 April 1743. As Mennonites they were opposed to taking the oath of alligence and therefore subscribed to the qualific-tion.
Andrew lived on the old homestead (just off Harleysville Road, about 8 miles from the village ) for at least 41 years and died here in 1759.
His will is dated 5 March, 1758 and was probated 28 December, 1759. He provided for his wife, Magdalena, who he married in Germany. and for his 2 daughters, Magdalena and Esther. To his wife he left "her own apparel, and our large chest which we
bought from Germany, and our cupboard in the old house" To his only son, Henry, he left the homestead and a horse, which he had "long promised to him, my bible and my journel." executors of the will were his son, Henry, son-in-law, John
Steoner and one of the witnesses was Andrew Ziegler, Senior.
