She is the lady that I visited with to complete the lineage data on the Millikin's in 1993 HDG. The Keokuk Daily Gate City, Keokuk, Iowa, Thursday, April 15, 1999: Evelyn M. Millikin Barton Dec. 4, 1911 - April 14, 1999 ... Hamilton, Ill. --- Evelyn M. Millikin Barton, 87, of Hamilton, Ill., died at 4:30 a. m. Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born on Dec. 4, 1911, in Colchester, Ill., the daughter of Ralph and Myrtle A. (Welch) Millikin. She married Ralph David Barton on June 26, 1937, in Colchester, Ill. He preceded her in death in May of 1976. Survivors include: two sons, Terrance Ralph Barton of Lincoln, Neb., and Jerrold and his wife, Rebecca, Millikin Barton of Wheaton, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Nancy) Barton Bavisotto of Arlington Heights, Ill.; a brother, Robert and his wife, Wanda, Millikin of St. James City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Millikin and Grace Wegehenkel; a brother, George; and a grandson, David Ralph Barton. Mrs. Barton received a B.E.D. degree from Western Illinois University. She attended the University of Colorado, National College of Education. Mrs. Barton taught school for 28 years in the Chicago and Hamilton school systems. She was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter U, Illinois Retired Teachers , Illinois Education Association, National Education Association and the Illinois Optometric Association Auxiliary. Mrs. Barton was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church. She served as an elder. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lee Wiley and Larry Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Visitation is Friday with the family meeting friends from 4 to 8 p. m. at Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
