  • Notes
    • Lucy, wife of A.; 1821 - 1882 (WC) Section that the family was buried in Widow Moore cemetery, 3/4 mile west of Colchester, McDonough county, Illinois. The cemetery is located just going west out of town on a road to the right after crossing a small bridge, then traveling 3/4 of a mile. The cemetery is very over grown and not very well maintained. But the stone for Lucy and Arthur is a Hugh stone marking their graves. On her grave stone is the dates of 1821 - 1882. This site is in the middle west side of the cemetery marked with a very large NEW stone MILLIKIN. This type of stone is the same as the one in Colchester, Illinois, Mt. Auburn cemetery marking the MILLIKIN - NEWLAND family plots. So I think that Florence Millikin Newland erected this stone in honor of her mother and father. When baptized into the RLDS church, 17 June 1873, by Joseph Smith the 3rd She was in the COLCHESTER AREA with her husband because of the coal. I think he was part of the Churches organization in mining the area for coal. Her older sister, Sophronia McClarry / McCleary was in Colchester with her daughter Marie Woolley. Membership Record Book: Page 122; Sophronia McCleary (daughter of Joseph Smith Sr.) When born: 16 May 1803, Where born: Tunbridge, New York When baptized into the RLDS Church 17 June 1872, by Joseph Smith the 3rd at Colchester, Illinois. William B. Smith, her brother, moved about trying to start the Church in the area again, but with no real outcome like his brother Joseph Smith Junior had on the people. Katherine Smith Younger was in the same area, dying in Fountain Green, Illinois, but buried in the Webster, Hancock county, Illinois, cemetery with her first husband. BIRTH: Also shown as Born Manchester, Ontario, New York.
