I know the book to be a revelation from God, translated by the gift
and power of the Holy Ghost, and that my brother, Joseph Smith, Jun.,
is a prophet, seer and revelator.

  • Notes
    • William Munroe was a prosperous Lexington shoemaker and land owner, born at Cambridge Farms (presently Lexington) the son of William Munroe, who was an ensign in the colonial militia, and his first wife Mary Cutler. William's (1703) Scottish grandfather is credited with establishing the Munroe family in Lexington about 1660. William married Sarah Mason in 1733 and fathered seven children.
Not long after helping to secure additional land for the town's burial ground, he caught cold while haying and died in his 44th year, becoming the first person to be buried in the new section of the graveyard.
