• Notes

  The actual year of birth of Thomas Deacon of Cornerhall is now unknown. However, Charles Farrow discovered from the 1582 Will of Thomas Deacon of Bovingdon, 4 miles from Hemel Hempstead, that his sons Roger and Thomas Deacon were both under 21 years old when their father died. He also learnt from his study of Manor Court Books of Hemel Hempstead that Thomas Deacon and three other young men were accused of illegally fishing in a stream belonging to the Lord of the Manor in June 1593. However, the same books showed that two years later, on June 17, 1595, the Steward of the Manor granted to Roger and Thomas Deacon and their heirs forever, at the will of the Lord of the Manor, one rood of land (one quarter of an acre) at Cornerhall.
