Notes |
- Mrs. Julia Robinson goes to Rest: Mrs. Julia Robinson of Circleville died on Saturday March 26th (March 16th, 1929). Funeral services were held in the LDS Chapel at Circleville on Tuesday March 19th... Julia Robinson was born at Nauvoo, Illinois on February 13, 1846 and when sixteen years of age she married Timothy Robinson. Sixty three years ago they moved to the south fork of the Sevier River, and were among the first settlers of Panguitch Valley.
They suffered much from Indian depredations and Mr. Robinson was an Indian War vetran. Mrs. Robinson was the mother of 12 children, eight of whom survive her, she had 76 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren and a number of great great grandchildren. She has been a widow since January 29th 1929.
About a year ago Mrs. Robinson had her right hand removed on account of cancer, but instead of getting better she has gradually grown worse and the cancer had begun working on her arm and body again. The last seven weeks she suffered intensly until death came as a blessed relief.
She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and besides her own family she raised six of her son's children after the death of their mother. She was a good neighbor and was known throughout southern Utah as she kept travel in the days when wagons and buggies were the methods used to go from place to place.
A large number of children, grandchildren and great grand children came from their houses to attend the funeral as did also her sister Mrs. Emily Brokenhagen of Helper, Utah.
Julia was born February 13, 1847, in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa to Alfred Sidney Hadden and Mary Caroline Carter who were married in 1846 in Winter Quarters. They lived in Council Bluffs until the family crossed the plains in the John G. Smith Company arriving in Great Salt Lake in September 1851. They were in Provo in December 1851, and they were in Parowan in 1854. Julia married Timothy Robinson 11 April 1863 in Paragonah where their first son, Timothy Rowlandson was born in 1864. Julia and Timothy were sealed in the Manti Temple June 15, 1921. She died in 1929 in Circleville, Utah. The cause of her death was Carcinoma on the back of her right hand.
Timothy and Julia Hadden Robinson were faithful Pioneers who enjoyed life and experienced many adventures as well as many trials. They were the parents of twelve children and helped to settle three southern Utah communities.
