  OBIT: Donald C. Smith Donald Clovis Smith, age 68, of Burley, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center in Boise. Don was born on March 10, 1942, in Burley, Idaho, the son of Floyd Donald and Vera LaRue Ferrin Smith. He was raised and educated in Acequia [Minidoka County, Idaho] and Downey [Bannock County, Idaho]. On July 21, 1959, Don joined the U.S. Army. In July 1966, Don was sent to Vietnam, and on March 28, 1968, he was honorably discharged with eight years of service to his country and returned to Idaho. In 1963, he met and married Charlotte Arnold. From this union they had three children. In 1995, he met and married the love of his life, Marie Reed and with this came four more children. Don was a cowboy most of his life with his favorite horse, Blazing Leo. The joy of his life was family. He loved and was very proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. His hobbies in life were riding horses, reading all of William W. Johnstone???s books, hunting, fishing, camping and loving his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Don is survived by his loving wife, Marie of Burley; two sons, Dale (Roxanne) Smith of Mountain Home, and Andy (Chemene) Smith of Paul; four daughters, Joyce (Carlos) Saiz of Chubbuck, Victoria (Howard) Wicker of Twin Falls, Rebecca (Tony) Schrenk-Monroe, and Tonia Armstrong all of Chico, California; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sandy (Yoyko) Smith of Redmond, Washington, and Floyd (Donel) Smith of Heyburn; two sisters, Alta Rasmussen of Jerome, and Mary Ann (Skip) Johnston of Chewelah, Washington; three uncles; and three aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Smith; a son, Hugh Allen Schrenk; and one grandson, Seth Gee. He will be deeply missed by all that loved and knew him. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Burley LDS 2nd and 4th Ward Church, 515 E. 16th St., in Burley, with bishop?s counselor Rex Dayley officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
