Notes |
- She appears in the 1910 and 1920 US Census living with her mother at 12A Locust Street, Rochester (Ward 10), Monroe Co, NY. Occupation 1910: stenographer in an office Occupation 1920: stenographer with Stamping Co. "As your document said, Violet was a stenographer with Atlantic Stamping Co. She followed the traditional path to success and married her boss! William H. Lane (nickname Dick) was at that time, or later, President of the company. Somewhere in the family paperwork I have a letter from the board of directors of Atlantic Stamping Co. awarding Violet one thousand shares of company stock at the death of her husband William. Around 1950 she was paralyzed by a stroke, and spent her remaining years in a nursing home in Poughkeepsie, NY. She died January 1, 1968 and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua, NY." [Source: Vance G Keeling by e-mail to Liane Kennedy - 17 July 2008] On 21 Apr 1938, Dick & Violet sailed on the SS Borinquin from San Juan PR to New York, NY, arriving 25 Apr 1938. Their home address is given as 207 Trafalgar St in Rochester, NY.
