"Per conversation with Walker K Mitchell, 22 Jul 2001, William Kennedy lived on the Rainey River in Minnesota about 1900. The family befriended some American Indians in the area and had them to dinner on occaisions. At one point, the Indians told the Kennedys that they were going on the warpath and attack settlements in the area suggesting the Kennedys depart the area immediately. This information was passed on to lcal authorities and the National Guard was called in to protect local residents. This action caused the Indians to halt their plans to go on the warpath."
