  Grandpa Harris was working at a rental property they had in Provo when he told the tenant he did not feel too well, and decided to walk home, about 1 1/2 to 2 miles away. He collapsed on the sidewalk. Death was due to a heart attack. He had been Chief of Police in Provo many years, later served as warden of Utah State Prison. He designed current Point of the Mountain facility. Peace officers from cities all along the route to his burial in Spanish Fork provided full escort honors for the funeral cortege. It was very impressive. As the lead vehicle approached each new city limit, the motorcycle officers leading the escort would "peel off," and motorcycles from the area would join the party, from Provo to Spanish Fork along old Highway 89.
