- David was born in Decature township, Clearfield county, PA, in1815, was reared and married February 24, 1836, to Miss SarahGearhart, who was born in Half Moon Valley, Centre county, a daughterof John and Lydia (Shivery) Gearhart. Her parents likewise becameprominent pioneers of Decatur township, where both died. The father in1871 and the mother in 1881. David's the entire married life was passed upon the farm, inwhich he now has interested, and there his mother (now eighty-fouryears of age) still resides, his father departed this life December 6,1884. The had nine children: Levi is the eldest of Decature township;William L, resides in Boggs township, Clearfield county; John, of PennTownship, same county; Abraham, of Boggs township; Edward, of Becariatownship & Glen Hope, same county; Joseph G, who resides in the oldfarm, of which he owns the remaining half in Decature township; Davidof West Virginia; Mrs Lydia Jane Young, of Curwensville, Clearfieldcounty; and Mrs Sarah Blake, of Maine.
