Notes - She married Henry Kephart Jr, son of Henry Kephart [I] and CatharineSmith, 23 Mar 1826. Henry and his wife established their farm in Clearfield county,PA while it was a vast wilderness on the western slope of theAllegheny mountains. They were the true frontier family. Henry and his wife erected a small log cabin in the year 1826 andwith not a cent of money, but with an Axe, a mattock, a rifle and themost simple and spare household outfit, but with brave and lovinghearts, they commenced the herculean task of clearing out and payingfor a farm. Flour, fruit and all the luxuries of life were scarce, butvenison, bear meat, berries, nuts and hard toil were plenty. Thehusband felled trees and often aided by the wife, rolled the logs intoheaps and burned them to make way for a crop of wheat; while the wifecultivated the garden spot, sheared the sheep, "skutched" the flax andspun both wool and flax into yarn and wove it into homespun, out ofwhich she made garments for herself, her children, and her husband.
