  "Lorna May Rutt (Kennedy) was a housewife and raised the 5 children. In 1955 Lorna May & Albert separated and she left with daughters Ramona and Barbara for Vancouver, B.C. Returned to Windsor in Aug 1957 for son Gerald's wedding and then left for Los Angeles, California, with daughters and George Bachiu (Ramona's boyfriend). She passes away in Jan 1969 age 71 and is buried in Santa Maria CA USA" [Source: letter from Albert H Rutt, Lorna's son, to Liane Kennedy, received 15 Aug 2008] Lorna starts appearing in her sister Annie Pearl Kennedy Jackson's family photos in 1910 and accompanied Pearl and Alfred Jackson when they went to Fort Williams, Ontario, where Alfred was building a bridge. After the accidental shooting which killed Alfred, Lorna returned to Windsor and continued to live with Pearl. Family feeling was decidedly mixed about Lorna's marriage to Albert. The implied reason was the he was "away a lot" - which meshes with his work on the Great Lakes ships. Lorna and the children often spent this time with McAdam cousins in the Brussels area. While Lorna's family believed that she had moved to BC in the mid- to late-1950s, she had cut off all contact with the Kennedy-side. (It is not known if she also cut off contact with her father's relatives who also lived in Windsor.) She in fact moved to BC, returned and then moved to California. A US Social Insurance No. 549562905 was issued in California in 1957. Residence at time of death: 1191 Rice Ranch Rd. Santa Maria, California (3 months). Resident in California since 1958. d. 15 Jan 1969 in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara County, California. [Source: Transcription from the California Death Certificate by Helen Rydell - hrydell@cox.net by e-mail to Trish Dailide, 31 May 2008] Obit: Lorna May Rutt A funeral service for Mrs. Rutt, 71, 1191 Rice Ranch Rd., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Magner Funeral home with Paul Davis, Dawn Bible students of San Luis Obispo, Officiating. Interment will follow in the Santa Maria Cemetery. Mrs. Rutt died Monday in her home. She was born in Canada and had lived in Santa Maria for the past three months. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ramon(a) Bachiu of the home address and Miss Barbara Rutt of New York City; three sons, Russell Rutt of Ann Arbor, Mich.,and Albert and Gerald Rutt of Ottawa, Canada; one brother, Robert Kennedy of Windsor, Canada; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Jackson of Detroit Mich., and eight grandchildren.
