So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

His parents remained in England and are buried at Bury St. Edmunds in County Suffolk. Most of the Goodrichs in the USA today are descendants of William.Ensign William Goodrich, a son of John and Margerie (Howes) Goodrich of Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England was baptized February 13, 1621/2 at Bury St. Mary.William probably came to America in 1635 with his older brother John and their guardian Clement Chaplin on the Elizabeth. Clement Chaplin departed Cambridge with the followers of Rev. Thomas Hooker in 1636 and came to Hartford, but settled instead in nearby Wethersfield, where he was the Ruling Elder. William Goodrich married on October 4, 1648 in Hartford, Connecticut Sarah Marvin (1631-1702), a daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Marvin of Great Bentley, Essex. William and Sarah had 5 sons and 4 daughters, and lived out their lives in Wethersfield. William died before the inventory of his estate taken November 14, 1676, and was buried in Wethersfield Village Cemetery in a grave that probably had one of the perishable markers from that time that are no longer visible

William Goodrich was born near Bury St. Edward, Suffolk, England, in February 1621. He was the son of John Goodrich and Margerie Howe.

In October 1648, William married Sarah Marvin. He was 27, she was 17. They had nine children; William and Sarah born 1649, Mary 1651, John 1652, Elizabeth 1658, William 1661, Abigail 1662, Ephraim 1663, and David 1667. All the children were born in Wethersfield, Connecticut.

William was a man of influence and held several offices. He was appointed a Constable of Wethersfield in March 1649. He was admitted a Freeman in May 1656. He was a Deputy to the General Court during five sessions 1662 - 1666, and was a Grand Juror in 1662. William was appointed an Ensign in Wethersfield Train Band in 1665 and afterwards he was always addressed as Ensign.

William died in 1676 in Wethersfield. His estate was valued at 915 Lbs, 3 shillings, and was settled in November 1676. The estate was left to his sons, but he had give both his daughters animals and household goods at the time of their marriages. Sarah survived him and was a widow for 26 years. She died in 1702 and was buried in Stratford, Connecticut.
