Notes - !---Welcome chapman heard Rumors of Joseph Smith, and after thinking a lot about what he had heard.and to see if what he had heard was true , he went to see Joseph Smith.He Stayed two weeks at the home of the prophet. Welcome was baptized, because of his activities in the church and the esteem Joseph Smith had for him, he was made one of Joseph Smith's Body Guards. His family suffered as did many of the Saints. One incident was when the Mob burned down their house. Welcome was a stone cutter by trade. So when he was living in Kirtland he was called to cut stone for the Kirtland Temple and later the Nauvoo Temple. The Saints were driven out of Nauvoo in the early spring of 1846 and they began their long trek westward. Welcome spent the first winter at Winter Quarters. The next spring Welcome was appointed Captain over the Fourth Company which arrived in Salt Lake Valley in the late summer of 1847. On July 27,1854, Welcome was sustained as the Manti Stake President. After serving as the Manti Stake President for eight years, Welcome was called by President Young on a mission to cut stone for the Salt Lake Temple which he did until he was 75 years old. * Story in the Childrens Friend magazine December 1993 issue.* ---Membership of Members of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Brother Welcome I lay my hands upon your head in the name and by the authority of Jesus Christ and bless you according to your calling and office and linage. Which is according to your right which will be manifested in the last days according to your Fathers promises or the faith and promises obtained by your Fathers, which promises were handed down under the inspection and scrutinizing eye of the almighty, as touching the Holy Priesthood in the last days in the order of the Kingdom of God to be placed upon your head that they might enter into the blessings of the Everlasting Covenant therefore in this thing you are blessed having these priviledges which you have not before realized, but shall realize them verily. The same will secure unto you the blessings of the Priesthood in its fulness with all its attendant graces together with and inheritance with your Fathers in the Linage of your Fathers upoon the Land of Joseph in the city of Zion or in other words New Jerusalem which inheritance is before you and to be received in time if you seek it with all your heart the same to passes (can't read this word) in Eternity by the same are the blessings into your House and to your Fathers House with the promise of the blessings of the priesthood unto your posterity from generation to generation and you and thae shall be blest also with prosperity in the gifts of your calling which is in the Ministry and with the anointing and with the inducment in due time in the House of the Lord with the blessings of Heaven attending the Labour of your hands and in all your avocations of life if you are diligent and faithful to your Faith. Fail not to continue with long life and to see much of the Salvation of God and with honour, glory, immortality, and eternal life and with posterity to perpetuate your name, which are your branches to spread abroad upon the face of the Earth and to keep your name in commemoration, until the end of the Earth.
