    • John came to Andover,Massachusetts with his father when he was about 4 years old. he married Deborah Osgood,whose step father, Thomas Rowell, was a genius for setting up mills; which was probably the reason John became a miller. John owner a gristmill on the Shawshin, near Abbot Village. From Abbott village to below Frye Village the families of Russ, Lovejoy, Osgood and Wilson were settled. John was the first Representative to Massachusetts General Court. John and Deborah were living on Oct 17, 1711 and among the signers of the covenant (or charter ) for the South Church in Andover. Children of John and Deborah (Osgood) Russ were all born in Andover, Massachusetts, p. 83 "Russ Family Genealogy".
      Abbot's History of Andover , Massachusetts, p. 28 gives the sons of John Russ, who died 1682 as: John, Jonathan, Josiah, Thomas, and Joseph.
