So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

  • Notes
    • John2 Barney, bapt. Dec. 15, 1639 at 1st Church, Salem, of whom there
is no further record. As he is not mentioned in his father's will, or the agreement
among his heirs, it is assumed he died without issue prior to 1673. However,
he could be the John Barnett who md. Mary Bishop, Oct. 14, 1661, or the John
Barry who md. Mary Chapman, Jan. 24, 1677.

JOHN2 BARNEY, son of Jacob1, was baptized December 15, 1639 at
the First Church, Salem. As he is not mentioned in his father's will, nor in the
agreement among his father's heirs, it is assumed that he died without issue
prior to 1673. A doubtful conclusion, since he seems to be the one who married
Mary Chapman on January 24, 1676/7 (marriage recorded as John Barry and
Marry Chapman). Mary Chapman was the daughter of Edward Chapman of
Ipswich, and his wife Mary, daughter of mark Simonds. In his will of April 9,
1678, Edward Chapman mentions his daughter Mary Barney and son-in-law John
Barney. Perhaps one or more of the following notes also refer to this John Barney:

      — John Berry md. Hannah Hodgkins, Jan. 12, 1670 (Hammatt's Ipswich
      papers).
      — At Ipswich, May 29, 1676, Hannah, wife of John Barry, died, (ibid.)
      — John Barry & Mary Chapman, md. Jan. 24, 1676/7 (ibid.)
      — Sept. 1679, John Barrye & his wife, for fornication before marriage, fined
£3 and costs & fees, (ibid.)
      — John Barry held rights of commonage as tenant of Samuel Bishop in
      1678. (ibid.)
      — John Barry of Ipswich, aged about 28, made a deposition in 1669/70
      (Court record).
      — John Barnett md. Mary Bishop at Salem, Mass. Oct. 14, 1661 (Salem
Vital Records). [Ed. note: 3 children recorded in Salem].
      — Salem Tax List for 1700: John Herrick of Beverly, taxed for land on
      "Barney's Farm."
Note: Some James Barney was one of four men slain at Salmon Falls in King Philip's War, Oct. 16, 1675
