- Buried in Riverside Cem., Sterling, Illinois in Lot 1138 Plot 4 Section 8 Lot 1137 Grave 1, facing south. Permit 58 Registration Dist. No 229 Certified by R. J. Smith M.D. Pearl L. Harper Date of Burial Nov 11, 1936, femail 55/4/23 Undertaker R.P. Adams. Place of death: Downers Grove; date of death Nov. 9, 1936. Died of Erysipelas, acute dilation of heart. They had no children. Information taken from Page 2 Thursday, Nov. 12, 1936 Downers Grove Reporter -- Mrs. Frank Harper, 1239 Curtis Street, died at her home on Monday, Nov 9, of erysipelas, following a two week illness. Miss Pearle Lillian Scott, was born June 6, 1881, near Rock Falls, Ill., the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Jesse Scott. She was married to frank W. Harper, on March 30, 1903, in Davenport, Iowa. Two years later they moved to Downers Grove, and she had made her home here since that time with the exception of several years, spent in Sterling, where she cared for her mother during her last illness. She was a member of the sterling Congregational church, and an attendant of the Downers Grovfe church. She was also a member of Vesta chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. No children were born to her but her nephew Wayne E. Scott (Junior) of Los Angeles, was taken into their home when a tiny lad and raised as their own. Besides her husband and afore mentioned nephew -- she leaves a number of nieces and nephews and one sister, Mrs. H. G. Miller of Washington, Iowa. Mrs. Frank Harper was a loyal friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed among her circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the Adams Funeral chapel on Wednesday, November 11, the Rev. A. J. Pitman, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in the family (Scott) lot at Sterling. Information taken from Thursday November 12, 1936, Downers Grove Reporter Page 7 -- Mrs. H. G. Millier of Burington, Iowas and her daughter Mrs. Ruby Galley of Moline, attended the funeral Wednesday of Mrs. Miller's sister, Mrs. Frank Harper. Place of death: Du Page county, Downers Grove, 1236 Curtis Street, Illinois Age 55 years 4 months 23 days; born June 16, 1881, Sterling, Illinois. For the record Pearle and Frank owned the old Addie Scott home at 519 West Wallace Street, Sterling, Illinois. They are on the City Directory's of 1928 to 1935. In 1928 he was a clerk and in 1930 he was a claim agent. (This was for the Burlington R.R.) (Mrs. Ruby Galley of Moline is my Mother! HDG 1995)
