  9/21/2006 Susanna Bailey had no children OBIT: Mrs. Susanna B. Hunt, wife of A.W. Hunt of this city, who died Thursday morning of last week, was born near Boston, Mass., October 27, 1837. Her parents died when she was an infant and her girlhood days were spent with the family of an uncle who resided in northern Illinois near the town of Elizabeth. She was united in marriage to Mr. Hunt at Elizabeth on December 3, 1858, and in 1859 the couple removed to Mitchell County, Iowa, where they resided until 1874. In 1862 Mr. Hunt enlisted as a soldier and his wife remained in Iowa and looked after the home until the husband was mustered out in 1865. When Mr. and Mrs. Hunt came to Dakota they settled on a claim a few miles northeast of Dell Rapids, where they resided until a few years ago when they moved into town. For several years Mrs. Hunt had been in very poor health and two or three years ago underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn., for the removal of a tumor. For a time it was thought she would regain her health, but such was not to be. Although the best medical aid was secured nothing could be done to effect a permanent cure of the disease form which she suffered. A few months ago she went to Kansas City to consult a specialist, and he told her that nothing could be done to help her. She was a patient woman and never complained of her hard lot and the cheerful manner in which she always greeted her friends and neighbors in worthy of emulation. Her husband done all he could to make life as pleasant for her as possible and was ministering to her wants when she passed away. They had traveled life's' pathway together nearly fifty years and the bereaved husband is left alone to mourn the death of his loved one. They had no children. The funeral occurred last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house, Rev. J.F. Bryant, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. A large number of old friends and neighbors and a delegation of old soldiers were present to pay their last tribute of respect to one whom they had known for many years.
