So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • --Other Fields Ref Number: 3358 Descent from English Crown - Mathilda 1102-1167 Queen of England, dau of King Henry I, was given in marriage when but eight years old, to Emperor Henry V, of Germany. She thus became Empress of Germany but Emperor Henry V d. in 1125 and in 1127, Matilda married Geoffrey IV, "Plantagenet" ca. 1100-1151, Count of Anjou (later a France Province). It was after this marriage that Henry I poclaimed that she should rule England after his death. Following the death of King Henry I, 1125, Matilda immediately ran into trouble. The people and Barona did not want a woman ruler. Stephen I, 1102-1154, of Blois (French Province), a first cousin of Matilda, came to England from the Province), a first cousin of Matilda, came to England from the continent and proclaimed himself to be the lawful King of England as next of legal blood and secured enough support to be so crowned in 1135. He was a grandson of King William I, "The Conqueror," a son of Adela who was a sister of King Henry I. A bitter brawl ensued for several years between followers of Stephen and his cousin Matilda. She left England for Normandy but returned in 1139 to harass Stephen and by 1141 had secured enough support to meet his army in battle in which she was victorious and Stephen was taken prisoner. She immediately proclaimed herself Queen of England by lawful descent. Her rule was short lived however, for her illegitimate brother, Robert, Earl of Gloucester, of whom she was very fond, was taken prisoner by Stephens supporters. Robert had been one of her main supporters, with King David of Scotland, another cousin. to secure Robert's freedom, she was forced to release Stephen, who immediately claimed again the Crown of England. The bitter feud continued but in 1147 the half brother, Robert, died and in 1148, without his support, Matilda gave up the fight and left. Matilda, daughter of Malcolm III, and sister of David, I, married Henry, I, King of England. It was their children who were drowned and about whom the poem was written "But he never smiled again."
