So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • Sealing to Parents performed a 2nd time 6 Dec. 1977 at MTIMP Thomas Powell was one of the patentees and purchasers of Huntington in 1664, to whom in that year Governor Andrews issued a patent. Thomas Powell may be the same who in May 1664, was of Long Island New York; admitted to be sworn freeman of Conn. by commissioners of Huntington. He was dissatisfied probably with the recusancy of that colony to the union with Conn. as by royal charter provided, and may have been at Springfield, 1665. At least bought land there but did not continue long, but went back to New Haven, but not to be on the list there of 1669. He died in New Haven 1681. The REV JOHN DAVENPORT CAME FROM ENGLAND TO MASSACHUSETTS IN THE FALL OF 1638, they stayed there till the end of March, then sailed to Quinipiac ,which would be renamed to New Haven, CT in 1640. Thomas (1616-1681) was a property owner in the 9 square land platt,he signed the original June 4,1639 land agreement. Priscilla Powell was born 1642, but for some reason was not baptized until 1643. Thomas powell and twin sister Hannah were born August 1641. You are correct their is no real William Powell, I do beleive the middle name of Thomas is William because of land documents. Thomas Powell of chapel street signed the original land agreement, then we have info that states William Powell of chapel street land owner of 1639 died Oct. 3, 1681. The official death record for thomas powell indicates Oct 3, 1681, this tells me they are the same person, we did notice 2 other people in the New Haven square were named Thomas Pell and Thomas Paul and then Thomas Powell. Thomas may have changed his name on his land document to prevent confusion of names since all 3 were involved in the community and town meetings. - SEE www.pinetreeweb.com
