So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • Ivo is said to have remarked, "I have her father's lands, why not the daughter too"
Crispin. The Falaise Roll (1938):63 "IVE TAILLEBOIS. There is very little known of the family, excepting that they were Angevin. Three of the names are written in Domesday 1086... Ivo... held the barony in Lincoln and Norfolk and was lord of the whole district of Hogland [see below: Earl of Holland]. He was the sheriff of Lincoln, in which county he was a great prince, holding court with much pomp and splendour at his castle of Spalding. He held large portions of the north of Lancaster as well as that part of Westmoreland which came under the barony of Kendal. He is said to have been a relative of the Conqueror, which is most unlikely, and was the husband of Lucia, daughter of William Malet, concerning whose birth and parentage there has been much controversy. Ivo died in 1114.... Ivo Taillebois are written in the D' Ives roll of Leopold de Lisle and both Scriven and Duchesne have enrolled the name.

Sir Ivo[r] de Tailbois (or John Talbot in English), the first Earl of Holland and Baron of Kendal, was born n Anjou, Normandy, France, between the years 1020-1030. His brother was the Earl of Anjou (Normandy). Ivor died in the 1094 [see above: 1114] in England. His family was one of the most illustrious in Normandy.

Ivor is claimed to be the progenitor of the Radcliffe family. Ivor fought alongside William the Conqueror in the Norman Conquest and at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; and in the year 1068 as a reward for his loyalty from the then King William of England, he was given estates taken from the Saxon Hereward the Wake in Lincolnshire and Norfolk. Ivor purportedly married Countess Lucy or Lucia ap Gruffyed Mallet (also called Lucia de Malet), daughter of Earl Aelfgar (Aelfgar III) and Princess Eifgifu. She was of royal lineage being the granddaughter of Gruffyed, King of Wales. She was born about 1025 in Mercia, England. Ivor and Lucia purportedly had three children: 1) Lucia de Tailbois (born in 1074, at Spalding, Lincolnshire, England; died in 1136); 2) Nicholas Fitzgilbert and 3) Aelfred Tailbois.

There is research that postulates that Ivor had a wife prior to arriving in England, whose name was Beatrice; or that he had a daughter Beatrice; or that he had a daughter Beatrice by Lucia. There is also some research that suggests that Ivor and Lucy had no children; my (Lyman De Platt's) calculations agree with this. Ivor was between thirty-six and forty-six years old at the time of the invasion (1066) and Lucia was about forty-one at that time (1066). It is possible that their marriage was arranged to same the manors and lands that belonged to Lucia's family from being confiscated. We will state here that Lucia was not the mother of Ivor's three children, given the fact that she would have been about forty-nine at the birth of the first child. Therefore, their mother is Ivor's first wife, possibly Beatrice. Ivor married 3rd Judith de Lens.
