In 1969 he paid for the funeral at Jones Mortuary for his mother, he was living in Colchester at that time. He is buried with his parents in Mt. Auburn cemetery, Colchester, Illinois Lot 27 Block 7. He served in WW II as a Pvt in the U.S. Army. He has his own bronze marker just west of his father and mothers graves in the family plot. He was a tool and dye maker, Methodist and was in WW II. The Macomb Sunday Journal, Sunday, October 18, 1987, page 5A, column 1: George Millikin --- Colchester --- Services for George R. Millikin, 80, of LaHarpe are 2 p. m. Monday at the Jones Mortuary here. The World War II veteran died at 4:45 a. m. Saturday at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. Dr. Jim Shearouse will conduct services. Burial is in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation is 2 - 4 p. m. today at the funeral home. Friends may call anytime prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. He was born Nov. 23, 1906 in Colchester, a son of Ralph and Myrtle Welch Millikin. He married Nina Green Dec. 25, 1930 in Muscatine, Iowa. She survives, of LaHarpe. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Gerhardt of Niota; a brother, Robert Millikin of St. James City, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Barton of Hamilton; four grandchildren; and five great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wegehenkel and Mariam Millikin. He was a retired tool-and-dye maker for Hemp and Co., and a carpenter.
