So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • PEDER (Peter) LARSEN

Peter Larsen was born 28 Aug 1808 in Lynge, Soro, Denmark. He married Ane Kirstine Andersen 18 April 1834 in Slagelse, Soro, Denmark.

He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 19 Aug 1853. That was soon after the Mormon missionaries arrived in Denmark. His family came to America and joined with the Saints in Utah in 1862. Only their oldest daughter stayed behind in Denmark.

They left Copenhagen in April 1862 on a steamer to Kiel. The family were put on railroad cars to Altona and from there on a tender ship to be put on the Athenia for the voyage to America. They were
anchored on the Elbe River near Hamburg, Germany and while there, their oldest son was married. Two days later, on 21 April they set sail. They arrived in New York on 6 June and went by railroad cars to Florence, Nebraska, arriving there 19 June.

Their wagon train left Florence on 29 July 1862 and arrived in Salt Lake City, 1 Oct. Most of their family settled in Manti, Sanpete, Utah.

Peter had definite musical abilities and helped soften the harshness of life in Manti with his ability to furnish music for Church or other festive occasions. He loved dancing. Their oldest son wrote the hymn, Secret Prayer p.144 in the LDS Hymnbook.

He was a stone cutter and stone mason. Peter worked hard and did a task well. He, along with his sons, and grandson helped with the building of the Manti Temple.

Peter died 4 March 1894 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah.
