His father was born in West Virginia and his mother is Illinois The Keokuk Daily Gate City, Keokuk, Iowa, Saturday, December 30, 1978, page 2A, column x: Harold Pitts ... G. Harold Pitts, 69, of Lawton, Mich., formerly of Keokuk, died Thursday at the Bronson Hospital at Kalamazoo, Mich. He had been ill a short time. Mr. Pitts was born March 20, 1909, in Keokuk, the son of the late John M. Pitts and Mary Millikin Pitts Fluckey. On March 23, 1946, he married Margaret Fiedler in Keokuk. He had been employed by the Beaty Machine Works in Keokuk and later farmed at Hamilton, Illinois. He retired in 1965 and moved to Michigan. Mr. Pitts was well known in the Keokuk area for his music having entertained at clubs and lodges for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, two nieces, Mrs. Willis (Dorothy Jean) Mouton of Gredley, Ill., and Mrs. Ronald (Lyle) Koehler of Steamboat Springs, Colo. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt-Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the Rev. Terry Halstead officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Hamilton. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Monday. He is buried in the Don Carlos Smith Millikin family plot with his wife. Their stone has both of them on one small flat stone on the ground.
