The Evening Telegraph, Dixon, Lee county, Illinois, Wednesday, March 4th, 1914, page 5, column 5: Aged Lee Center Resident Is Dead ----- Mrs. Betsy Doan Was 82 Years Old and Had Never Ridden On A Train ------ Amboy, Mch. 4 ---- Special to Telegraph ---- Betsy Doan, one of the oldest residents of this vicinity, died at her home in Lee Center township at 10:30 p. m. yesterday,at the age of 82 years. Mrs. Doan was the widow of Vincent Doan, who passed away 22 years ago. In all her long life the deceased had never ridden on a railroad train. The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the M. E. church in Amboy and burial will take place in Prairie Repose cemetery north of this city. The hundreds of friends of the aged lady unite in sorrow at her passing.
