  Maxine Porter Horrocks, age 85, of Neola, returned to her Heavenly Father on April 2, 2014 into the arms of her husband to take the journey into eternity. She was being cared for by her daughters, Dianna and Lillian. Mom was born September 4, 1928 in Escalante, Utah to Roland and Mina Haws Porter, she was the 6th child of 8. She met Floyd A. Horrocks while trying to enlist in the army, during the time she worked as a nanny in SLC. Floyd happened to be the recruiting officer and he recruited her right into his life and they were married shortly after on March 2, 1951 in Evanston, Wyoming. He died April 12, 2006. During the time that Floyd served in the army the family lived in Utah, Washington, Germany and Texas. They were able to travel through Europe and also the United States. While in Germany, Floyd and Maxine were sealed in the Switzerland LDS Temple on August 20, 1960, for time and all eternity. Maxine held many callings in the church, mostly serving in Relief Society and Primary. She raised 4 children and had a helping hand in raising and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom was the most wonderful cook and was a fantastic baker, everyone marveled over her cinnamon rolls, they were perfect every time. She is survived by her children, Dianna McClees (Chad Thorn), Lillian Hancock, Steven (Jennifer) Horrocks and Roland Horrocks, step-son, Richard (Cathleen) Horrocks, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters, sister, Yoland McInelly, brothers, Vergean (Carolyn) Porter, Bobby (Sandra) Porter, sisters-in-law, Lanor Porter, Janet Porter, brother-in-law, Kenneth Griffin, and many who called her mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons-in-law, Bob Worthen, Mike Hancock, granddaughter, Valadina Horrocks, grandson, Sean Horrocks, great grandson, Sean Ivie, sisters, Velma Boulter, Marie Griffin, brothers, Haws Porter, Merrill Porter, A very special thank you goes to her nurse Michelle who was so caring and had a wonderful bond with mom and the rest of the staff at the Symbii Hospice, also Bishop Vyke, his bishopric, and the Relief Society of the River 6h Ward in West Jordan. Funeral services held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Neola LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 5 - 7 p.m. and Monday at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park
