- Birth: England. Death: Jun. 11, 1649 Milford New Haven County Connecticut, USA. MARTHA and her husband, Mr. BEARD, probably came over from England on the good ship, MARTIN. It is believed that James died during the passage over and was buried at sea. Widow Beard received extra land during the Milford division due to her "affliction". Her homelot was #54 and was located on Broad Street. Her daughter, SARAH BEARD, who married NICHOLAS CAMP, JR., was my ancestor. Known children of James & Martha Beard: Capt.
