So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

  • Notes
    • James Bearce was born the end of July 1660 to Augustine Austin Bearce in Barnstable, Massachusetts. He married Experience Howland around 1688 and at some point they moved to Plympton, Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he died in 1728.

He is often confused with his brother Joseph, who married Martha Taylor.

In 1694, James bought a large tract of land on Ponponsett Pond within the present limits of Halifax. They were members of Rev. Isaac Cushman's church.
James was admitted a townsman in 1683 being then only 23 years of age. In the division of the Meadows in 1694, he had 4 acres and in the final division in 1697 the same amount was alloted to him. In the division of the common lands in 1673 his name does not appear as according to the rules adopted for the admission of townsman and common lands, this indicated that James married about 1683 as no unmarried man was admitted a townsman until 24 years of age; also that he had good property (2-2 1/2 to 3 acres being average). He moved to Plympton, now Halifax, in 1685 and built a house on Monponsett Pond on the east side of the present road nearly opposite the house of Nathaniel Holmes Jr. James' will was dated 17 May 1712 and left property to his son Shubael who was to share with the other children.
