So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • (ibid, pp. 157, 213, G.T. Clarke: "Earls, Earldom and Castle of Pembroke," pp. 6-7.) As a younger son, he inherited no land, but applied for and received from William Rufus a license to conquer Dyfed. He built a large fortress at Pembroke, but it is uncertain whether any part of this remains in the present building. After the death of Rufus, Arnulph and his brother, Robert de Belleme, adhered to Duke Robert instead of Henry, defending Arundel and other castles against the King in 1102. As a result Arnulph de Montgomery was exiled and took refuge in Ireland where he was married. In 1103, he assisted the Irish in defeating a piratical attack by Magnus of Norway. A daughter was: Alice, of whom further. BIRTH: Also shown as Born Abt 1074 ~BAPTISM: Also shown as Baptized 2 Jan 1970
